Young, beautiful, wealthy American Ella Frazier, arrives on the Adriatic coast of Yugoslavia, with her assistant Charles, and a burning mission... to revive the defunct monastery and reinstate the monks who formulated the brandy that had saved her father's life during the war.

An attempt to sabotage the mission is made by an impostor monk, Bogie. The rest of the monks are exposed as petty criminals... an organized group of smugglers who communicate in silence and are using the monastery for their dark and selfish motives. Into this confusion a real monk arrives, and Bogie tries to blend into quite chaos.

Of course the handsome Bogie and he lovely Ella fall in love, and the government comes to their rescue by boat and helicopter. The authentic monk reveals the secret of the brandy and Charles stays on in the monastery as Prior.

Ella and Bogie sail into the sunset together, bringing this comedy to a romantic conclusion.
